ABOUT PAUSA

Buffalo's Intimate Listening Room for Jazz, Creative Music & Cultural Experiences

Founded in 2013, PAUSA Art House is an intimate listening room located in Buffalo's historic Allentown district. We present exceptional performances by acclaimed local, national, and international artists in a thoughtfully designed, seated venue where music is truly heard.

Unlike a traditional bar or nightclub, PAUSA is dedicated to attentive listening, creating an atmosphere where artists and audiences connect through unforgettable live performances. Guests enjoy a carefully curated selection of tapas, panini, desserts, wines, craft cocktails, local beers, and non-alcoholic beverages in a relaxed art-house setting designed to complement the music—not compete with it.

From internationally recognized jazz musicians to Buffalo's outstanding local artists, every performance reflects PAUSA's commitment to artistic excellence, creativity, and genuine human connection.

About the Founder

Cuban-born violinist Lázara Martínez co-founded PAUSA Art House in 2013 with the vision of creating an intimate venue where exceptional artists could perform in an environment dedicated to attentive listening and audiences could experience live music without distraction.

Her international performing career has included appearances throughout Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Spain, Sweden, Ecuador, Costa Rica, and Colombia with orchestras, chamber ensembles, and festivals.

After immigrating to the United States, Lázara earned a Bachelor's degree in Media Production from the University at Buffalo, graduating Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa, followed by a Master's degree in Documentary Production from The City College of New York.

Today, as the sole owner and creative director of PAUSA Art House, she personally curates each performance season while overseeing every aspect of the venue's programming and daily operations.

More than a decade after opening its doors, PAUSA continues to fulfill its original mission: creating an intimate space where artists are respected, audiences are engaged, and music is truly heard.
